CLASSES WITH CHEF LAURA OF WHISK CULINARY SERVICES
Chef Laura will teach you not only how to cook, but how to enjoy being a better cook!

I've heard the phrase "I can't cook" too many times, so I'm here to prove you wrong!  Let me help you understand the basics of cooking and encourage you to think like a chef.  Some people may never come to love cooking, but it's a life skill everyone should have. (It doesn't hurt to have a few go-to recipes up your sleeve either!)

Spring Into Soups and Salads: This class is a good way to transition your palate from the comfort foods of winter to the fresh offerings of Spring.  You will prepare some hearty soups and accompany them with fresh greens and seasonal garnishes, as well as homemade dressings.

Unique and Healthy Eats
You've come across some unusual foods in the market, but you don't know how you'd prepare them....if this sounds like you, then let's explore some of those foods in class so you can expand your culinary repertoire! Bison burgers, blue cornmeal pancakes, quinoa pilaf, and kale salad will be prepared, and you will sample a goat cheese cheesecake for dessert.

How to Boil Water: Next Level Cooking Boot Camp-Getting More Confident
Cooking Boot Camp was a great success, but now that  you've grasped the basics, perhaps you're wondering what's next?  Following the same format as the base class, but with more advanced preparations and techniques, we now move on to "Level 2".  Let me help you understand the importance of basic cooking techniques and encourage you to think like a chef.  Also a good class for independent teens and college students!

Gluten Free Cooking: Gluten comprises the proteins found in wheat, rye, and barley, which an increasing number of people are finding they can no longer tolerate, or are choosing to incorporate less in their diet in general.  In this class we will prepare a hearty gluten-free menu including dessert, that does not leave you feeling that you've "missed out" on anything!

Beyond Basic Baking: Who doesn't love capping off a meal with a delectable dessert?  This class is appropriate for anyone who wants to expand on their baking skills, even beginners, as we will work together in a hands-on capacity to prepare Classic Shortbread Cookies, Grand Marnier Souffle, Triple Chocolate Roulade, a citrus meringue pie, and the ultimate chocolate cake!

Spring into Salads
Are you ready to liven up your meals with the fresh tastes spring has to offer? Let's get together to compose a variety of vegetable based entrée salads including unexpected garnishes to provide more interesting perspectives to your green salads. We will also prepare Tarragon0Lemon Chicken Salad as well as vinaigrette and Ranch dressings, and fresh baked focaccia - all from scratch - to compliment the greens!

Featured Cookbook Recipes
Professional Chef Laura Cochran has co-authored "Let Them Burn Cake! Teaching a Royal to Cook in a Week", with Amalie Jahn, author of several award-winning young adult and adult novels. The storied cookbook shares the perspective of the two authors as they spent a week in the kitchen as "teacher and student", complete with journalistic-style entries and 35 recipes. Chef Laura will be instructing this hands-on class with selections from the book. Recipe preparation will include Shrimp Bisque, Chicken Royale (chicken breast stuffed with herb cheese, spinach and walnuts) with Raspberry Sauce, Duchess Potatoes, Blanched Asparagus with Lemon, and a Triple Chocolate Roulade. Space is limited. A copy of the cookbook is included with class enrollment. The book is also available at Amazon.
